Every one of us on this mailing list, and countless more beyond us, have lived lives that have been profoundly changed by their having met you, Doc -- having been taught by you, having played with you, and (as I think) teaching you too about what is possible for us to draw upon in ourselves, and what is possible for us to draw upon when we work and play together. You have been this amazing shaper of other people's lives through your profound vision, your piercing, restless mind, and your outsize, generous heart.
I hope you had the happiest of birthdays this year.
