This might be a good time to take turns telling stories to one another as we
travel together during this suffering, following the ten in the Decameron
during the plague of 1348. Or share with one another “journey” stories of our
own. Shakespeare’s imagination was alive during the plague years. We need to
keep that spirit going and ours!

Which is what Robin and I are doing as we approach the 20th anniversary of Camp
Shakespeare. We have selected a stellar group of kids, sent them their texts
and invited them into the play worlds of Much Ado About Nothing and Twelfth
Night. One of the campers has already written a new setting for a song and now
writing an original piece. Three others began reading the play when the text
arrived. And so excitement is in the air.

To celebrate our 20th anniversary, we are inviting former campers to Rancho
Pillow, to performances and to a special "gala” luncheon on July 12 at Henkel
Hall in Round Top. We hope that you will begin planning to attend.

To make this summer a memorable for all of us, we need to fund scholarships for
5 students, find assistance for the costs at Rancho Pillow, our Camp site, pay
for bus trips to the Scottish Rite Theatre in Austin, and find folks who will
sponsor the gala. All together that means we need to raise $30,000. Last year
former Shakespeare at Winedale student contributions reached $ 35,000!

We would appreciate your assistance in reaching our goal. We are aware that
the market is plummeting now but hopeful that it will rise from the ashes in
April.

Your may, as usual, send your check to me at PO Box 202 Round Top, Tx. 78954
and Make it to The University of Texas “for” Camp Shakespeare.

Thank you!

I hope that all of you are well and safe and happy. We are.
