[Winona Online Democracy] I just bicycled by the Wilkie at Levee Park and saw that HBC has started to remove the trees that screen their junk yard from view.
(I'm sure they will take unbridge at my calling their equipment facility a junk yard. But since they can store a junk car there and it fits right in with their trashy appearence in general, I maintain that it's a junk yard.) When a business enterprise that is as civic minded as HBC claims to be shows such little regard for the appearance of our riverfront, it says to me that efforts at making downtown a tourist attraction will never succeed.
