Terri Hyle reminded me that replacement of the  Goodview school roof and the senior high school roof are scheduled and we are working on plans to rennovate the high school auditorium including a project to raise money for replacing all of the seats.

Carole

Good questions.  The Goodview school was built in 1971. A new roof was put on in 1986,  The roof had a 10 year warranty (lifespan) that expired in 1996.  The  roof has been maintained since then, but does neet to be replaced.  The high school auditorium was built with the high school in 1967.  In those 36 years thousands of students and spectators have used that facility and the wear does show.  The school district maintains 8 elementary buildings, 1 Commuity Education/Administrative building, 1 middle school, 1 high school, 1 ALC and a number of smaller facilities for a total of 830,00 sauare feet.  The average age of these buildings is 40 years. The basic problem is that we have more needs than we have resources to take care of at any given time.  This forces us to prioritize our projects and complete them as funding becomes available. I believe that we do an excellent job of maintaining the bui ldings with the resources availabl e to us.  This is due to the excellent maintenance and custodial staff  working in the school district.

I have a few questions that I wonder if any one can answer for me?

Why is the Goodview school roof in such bad shape.  Isn't the roof part of a yearly of biyearly repair that should be taken for granted.

Why has the WSHS auditorium been left to fall apart.

I thought we were supposed to take care of the buildings that we have and be proud of them.

My next thought is, if Wal Mart is such a bad place--Why are the parking lots always full in Rochester, LaCrosse, Tomah and Rockford Il.

Thank you

Carole Forest
