[Winona Online Democracy]

Winona Online,
Here's a blurb about an event this weekend that I know some of you would
like to know about. Whether you agree with the Wellstones' political views
or not, I can't imagine anyone would argue with the huge influence they had
on re-energizing grassroots political action. This alone is reason enough I
hope to include this event on a forum devoted to local public issues and
politics.

There are many events this week and weekend celebrating the lives of Paul
and Sheila Wellstone and their family and co-workers, and memorializing the
anniversary of their deaths. Wellstone.org (social action organization
founded in their hoonor) has requested that communities organize musical
memorials this weekend.
The Blue Heron Coffeehouse (451 Huff St.) will host Winona's
portion of the (inter)national celebration of Wellstone World Music Day.
This is the one year anniversary of Paul and Sheila's death, and we are
counting on thecommunity to come out and support this event and honor the
Wellstone spirit.
Fast Annie is confirmed as a performer, and others are signing on...this
could be you! All are encouraged to bring their own instruments, ideas,
and expressions as it will be an open-mic and percussion jam as well. This
event is free, relaxed, all-ages, and right. Please come on down and
celebrate Paul's life!

This event is being organized without much advance notice...so please
spread the word because there isn't time to get posters out. Musicians can
contact Alex Stevens at [EMAIL PROTECTED] Here's the official
site of all the shows lined up around the state and the nation:
