I think when you consider a 20 to 30 minute drive we have more restaurants than we deserve considering how we support them.   Our biggest problem is we are unwilling to travel  that distance because we want it next door.  When I am in a city we invariably have to drive 20 minutes for wherever we are going to eat  and think nothing of it.

There fore my comment we have more restaurants than we can support in the Winona area.   They are all good too some cookie cutter franchises and some individually operated.   All are good.

Subject: [Winona] Winona restaurants

Someone in a post of the other day suggested input regarding Winona
and area restaurants -- especially for persons travelling a distance and
wishing to have good food while in Winona for the Shakespeare
Festival and other events.
We certainly do have right in Winona good eating establishments that
are Winona family owned and doing an excellent job I feel.  Do not
forget Prime Steak and Cake right in the downtown area only about a
half block from our historic courthouse.  Also, Beier's at the corner of
14 and 61 is a suggested also.  We should not forget locally owned
Winona Steakhouse right on 61 which has a very excellent buffet setup.
If the out of town people want to travel out of Winona and tour more
of our scenic area they could travel over the bridge and head for
the Galesville and Trempealeau areas.  Wason's, Arctic Springs and
Sullivan's are very good Wisconsin eateries.  This time of year however
reservations would be recommended.
Our area is very blessed with very good (too good) eating establishments.
We all however get nostalgic when we think back to Winona's
infamous Hot Fish Shop which is still missed by so very many local
and out of town people.
