Eric,

Thank you for replying. (In less than 8-9 weeks to boot.)

;->

I think a respectful discussion, and even a debate, can be a productive thing.

I think your idea of "balanced and fair" is different than my idea of what
is balanced and fair. Then again, that is to be expected. And I will
readily admit I don't have a monopoly on the truth. I'm even lacking
information and flat out wrong at times.

But can we agree that so far the Daily News has not interviewed people with
different perspectives on the proposed annexation and development?

Can we also agree that so far the coverage has almost exactly mirrored your
points of view? If not, what would you say is different from your views?

Lastly, about your list of tough questions for the County.

They are great questions and very valid ones. Keep them coming.

I would even go so far as to say "guilty" in most of the cases. Then
again, it's not entirely fair for me to do that because they involve
decisions that pre-date my time on the County Board.

I think good things can come from holding each other to high standards and
calling each other when we are not being consistent or thinking long term
or big picture.

The County Board, City of Winona, and Wilson Township exchanged a rather
in-depth and comprehensive list of questions in August. At the time, you
said you and the other staff would bring back responses to the questions.
You said something like, "easily before December at the latest." You had
asked to have the meeting video taped (a good idea) so we can double check
that discussion if we have different recollections.

Can we continue the conversation about better ways to plan for and carry
out development?
