[Winona Online Democracy]

I was able to find only older references to deep sea disposal and sea
dumping...which, apparantly, are two very different kettles of
fish...lol...Taiwan wanted to do it back in 1990, but there was an
international prohibition in place until 1992...I would imagine that it was
extended, but I do not know.

Sea dumping is just that...dump it into the Marianas Trench...deep sea
disposal would bury the stuff in deep sediements...neither approach, to the
best of my knowledge, envisions detonation of containment vessels at 30000m
for maximum dispersal...sounds like a bad idea to me.

If it worked solar impact sounds like a great idea...but just one bad launch
would put the public off its feed on the program, I would imagine. Off
planet storage is the ultimate solution, I think...although I'd rather set
it on a rock orbiting Saturn than shoot it into the only star we've
got...just to be on the safe side. If we get our space elevator built this
century I imagine that is how we will get rid of the stuff.

What a great discussion topic! I feel like a high school debater again! If
our esteemed moderator feels compelled to steer us back to Winona issues I
will remind her that a significant portion of the electricity that runs her
coffee maker in the morning comes from the Prairie Island reactors. :-)
