Sustain Winona and Bluff Country Coop Together Present:

JASON CLAY
Harmonizing Global Commodities, Biodiversity and Business

Tuesday, February 15th

7:00 PM

County Board Room

177 Main Street Winona

2nd floor, Winona Govt Center

A video event from the 2004 Bioneers National Conference, combined with a discussion including Winona citizens involved in sustainable agriculture

Today, a globalized, commodity export-oriented agriculture threatens the ecosystems which produce our food and fiber. Jason Clay, vice president for the Center for Conservation Innovation at the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), has been an innovative and effective leader in international human rights and environmental work for over 20 year, and an inventor of the green marketing of rainforest products. Now, he is working with the UN, investors, retailers and producer groups to reform the immense international agricultural commodity industries to lessen their ecological impacts.

Citizens are invited to view the 30-minute video.  Panelists Bob Copeland, Jim Riddle, Linda D'Amico, Toby Dogwiler, Michael Rupprecht and Reese Williams, along with audience members, will discuss how Clays ideas and those of Frances Moore Lappe can be made relevant to the economic and environmental sustainability of the Winona area.

This program will simultaneously be carried live on HBC Channel 19
and Charter's Channel 8.  It will be rebroadcast on HBCs Channel 20 from
7:30-9pm on February 22nd; and on Charters Channel 6 on February 23rd from 7-8:30 pm.

This is the second in a series of video events.

The other topics scheduled include the following:

Sustainability and Health, March 15;

Sustainability and Community, April 19th

All events are at 7:00 PM in the County Board Room
