Well, I sure can see that this is the phenomenon we're seeing (i.e., the truth coming out slowly and falsehood wreaking havoc as it travels on wings of fire!!).

Is it possible for us to fight the knee-jerk impulse to mistrust and be mindful that it is likely some falsehoods making the rounds? I try to put myself in the board and administration's shoes--I sense these individuals feel as blind-sided by the public reaction as the teachers and staff at the HS to the recommended plan. Both sets of parties are thoughtful and reasonable individuals and I doubt that any one of them intended for things to play out this way. Public service is quite thankless at times and I think we owe them some consideration for putting themselves out there in a time of strife.

It is distressing to me that there has not been more information regarding the facts coming from the administration to the public. I try to think that they are trying to be thoughtful in their process of gathering and preparing the right and proper response. I often say to folks that "I may not be able to give you a quick answer, but I when I give you one, it will be a right answer." I'm feeling impatient and worried, too, but I'm also trying to think and act rationally about the whole thing. Of course it is probably easier for me to say and do this because I am on the side lines!!!

Many have asked for information and I can understand the frustration and fear that arises when no answers come. I do have to believe that the folks responsible are doing the best that they can under the circumstances. I only hope that there will be an attempt to learn from this expreience and to improve processes in the future to avoid such outcomes. I believe that the administration and board is made up of individuals of fine character who will wish for no less than a committment to improving processes for the district.

My two cents.

Rich , kathy and All, I feel that the Board When this problem reared its head was obligated to come forth and set the records straight. Failure to do so is what causes mistrust and the truth travels on a snails back, but a falsehood on wings of fire. Bob K

I was going to ask where Linda got her crystal ball! It sounds to me like fear and mistrust talking. Again, it's that "us vs. them" (and "them" are the bad guy) kind of thinking that seems to be reflected in the messages I'm reading from Linda and Bob. This isn't meant to be a criticism, per se. I understand that there is a long history of school/community relations that planted seeds of mistrust. At what point do those plants start to choke out any hope of a productive garden? The seeds may have arrived in the soil legitimately, but that doesn't mean they should be allowed to take over the garden. There's a new gardener with some fresh energy and enthusiasm for this plot. He seems to wish to bring together the best soil amendments and fertilizer possible in a lousy climate. The community is providing as many seedlings as possible for now. How can we nurture them instead of the weeds?

What about "us" and "our children, grandchildren, etc"? Do we not all have an interest in their education? Is there no way to work together?

Rich's point is well taken--What are the facts? I haven't seen a lot of them on WOD. I have read perceptions and opinions. I have also "heard" that there are at least two different versions of "the truth" about this issue. I, frankly, have not kept up on the news regarding this (or the opinion page for that matter). Can one of our reporters provide us with some links to their stories that might contain some facts?

This is just my input as a WOD participant--not necessarily as a facilitator.

And the factual data you have to back up the claim is? If WOD is simply
becoming a place for people to whine about things they don't like and make
erroneous claims without the facts, then count me out.

**this is right>>and a letter to the editor in the daily news makes an
excellent point> they will put all these offices in the senior high and then

say they need* a bigger senior high....it never ends in this district and
that is why the tax payers are sick of it.

Duane , I had someone send me an email which asked where we would put the
School Board, (In the Boiler Room) I wanted to answer Yes and Now I have.
If they can not come up with a better plan and let the people know what it

is before thay execute it That is the best place for them
