As much as I appreciated the column, it could have pointed out that with an increasing student debt burden the price of employees goes up. When the price of employees goes up, we all pay, eventually, whether it is in increased prices or talent being priced out of the market. If you cannot afford a home, food, and a loan, one will seek employment elsewhere (i.e. Minneapolis, Rochester, Madison).
By noting this, he would have provided another concrete reason to support the idea.
