The lack of a requirement for sidewalks in subdivisions is a big mistake in my opinion.  It puts children and their parents at risk on streets with 30 MPH speed limits.

Subject: [Winona] Bike paths and trails

I would like to second what Bryon  Bothun and Phil Carlson have said about bike paths, trails etc. These are                           definitely   enhancements , as witness the success of our path around Lake Winona.

I have a little different take on the justification for a path, probably because I see a lot of pedestrians, in one form or

another, on the street where I live.. There is a lot of variety, all the way from trikes and strollers  to the elderly using canes                                   and walkers. Walking and biking are great exercises and I would like to see more of it but it also raises some concerns

when it has to be done in the traffic lanes of a somewhat narrow, winding street that has no sidewalks. Seems like a

path or trail would be an ideal solution. And for those who are concerned about the aesthetics, let's not forget,"Beauty

is in the eye of the beholder".
