Title: A Double Question
Dear
Sir,
Minnesota's
population over the next 25 years is expected to grow from 5.4 to 6.2
million. Some of those folks will be settling here though not
likely to settle too much west of Mankato. Clearly the birth
rate is one indicator, and trends seem to show we are in a flat to
modest decline. On the other hand Winona county's current
population is expected to increase from 49,985 to about 56,090
in the next 25 years according to the Minnesota Planning Demographic
Center. The number of births are expected to outpace deaths in
our county from years 2025 -2030, and remain constant until that
time. In the mean time we also we may anticipate increased
births if increased Hispanic & Hmong trends locating in our
district continue. As mentioned the hardest hit by birth
declines and increased death are the western most MN counties.
So while not directly answering your question the state suggests we
may lose some numbers now, but can expect modest to stable
rebound.
In regard to your
specific question - I have several other referendum obligations that I
need to attend to and I apologize, but quite honestly I haven't had
a chance to research the formula modifications yet.
Best
Regards
Kelly
