After reading the article about a Dakota man being
sentenced for stealing from an LaCrosse bank in today's (3/23/06) Daily
News, I'm wondering if I've been mislead about the security of safe deposit
boxes. I was under the impression that having 2 keys to open the box meant that
it couldn't be opened without my key and the bank's key. And, there would be a
substantial fee charged to me in the event I didn't pay for the next year and
didn't come in to close the account, because the lock would have to be drilled
out. The news article says that bank employees can open the box without the
customers key.
Is Merchants Bank Winona different than the Wells
Fargo branch in LaCrosse?
