I have heard of a residence near Rochester someplace that is self
contained. I guess they add water to the system to keep it at an operating
level, but it recycles the water used for flushing, showering, dishes, etc.
Within the house it has it's own "digester", but I understand that it
filters the waste water and returns it to the main holding tank where it's
cycled back through again. Incidentally, the drinking water comes from that
same main holding tank.
This info came from a U of M speaker ( I think), I'm sorry, I can't
remember his name.
This is from my memory, so I would warn you it's probably not entirely
correct.
