General Election Voter Service Forums Set by LWV, AAUW and Winona Area
Chamber of Commerce In October

The League of Women Voters, Winona Unit is co-sponsoring several candidate
forums in October with the American Association of University Women and the
Winona Area Chamber of Commerce.  The public is invited to provide the
questions for the candidates by attending the event in person.  Dates are
October 4, for Legislative Districts; October 9 for Winona Area Public
School Board; and October 17 for the County Board and Winona City Council
seats.  In addition on October 12, a forum will be held on the two general
referendum questions, Winona City Local Options Sales Tax and Minnesota
Transportation Amendment.  City and County officials will present the
background to the voters on these two taxation issues.

Written questions to the candidates and at the referendum forum are
generated from the audience in attendance.   All the forums will begin at
7:00 PM in the Council Chambers of the Winona City Hall, 4th and Lafayette
Streets in Winona.   The forums will be broadcast live on the government
access cable TV Channels for Charter and HBCI.   Radio and newspaper media
are also invited.   During the televised forum, a telephone line to call in
questions will be available.  The phone number will be noted during the
event.

The League of Women Voters, Winona Unit, Women’s Resource Center of Winona,
the American Association of University Women, Winona Area PTA Council,
Winona Area Chamber of Commerce and Winona On-Line Democracy encourage all
voters to go and vote on the Election Day, November 7, 2006.  Absentee
ballot and or voter registration information is available from the Winona
County Auditors Office, Winona County Government Center, and First Floor, at
177 Main Street, Winona, MN.
