If you want to learn more about the facts of what is wrong with our
health care system and how to fix it it, on March 10th come to the
Science Lab Center Auditorium in Stark Hall at the Winona State
University, 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

A newly formed WI/MN citizen's group (Great Northern States Health Care
Initiative) is holding this informational session.

The The Healthcare Mess and How To Fix It session will also be held in LaCrosse
in the morning of March 10th.

So,
for now just let me say a few things about my personal opinions on this
topic. The vast majority of US citizens want major change BUT the
money of the HMO/insurance companies combined with the drug companies
still controls the actions of Congress and State Legislatures. Heath
care should be a right just as education is. We must take the middle
man out of the system (HMOs) because much, if not all, of what they do
does not add value to health care and is the reason for the high cost.
Taking that cost out will enable us to provide universal health care
access without it costing more money to individuals or employers or
taxpayers. The HMO high salaries and ridiculous administrative red
tape processes that we have created with our insurance industry is what
drives the cost. Competition has driven cost up by driving hospitals
and clinics to get more and more technology themselves rather than
sharing regionally. Our health care should not be provided as a for
profit enterprise. Our Minnesota Governor wants to 'cover all kids'.
Our President thinks the income tax system can be used to help people
be able to afford health care. They both are on the right track ---
BUT they both rely on the insurance industry to do it and that (because
of the cost) will kill it. The medical providers should be left
private and the medical decisions should be left to them and the
patient.
Happy Valentine's Day.

Subject: [Winona] Single Payer Health Care: Survey of Doctors In Minnesota

[Winona Online Democracy]

Below is an article that was sent to
me.

I wonder what the results would be if a
scientific and valid survey could be done locally? Not just of doctors,
but from a sample of the whole community.
