I installed WinPcap 3.0 beta several weeks ago on a Dell P3-933/Windows XP machine and I have been using Ethereal 0.9.14 successfully. Now I want to use the WinPcap API and I built the pktdump_ex example using VS 6.0 and the source and project files that were included in the distribution. When I execute the program with no run-time parameters, it enters the pcap_findalldevs_ex() function, pauses for 10 seconds, and then throws an exception in WPCAP.DLL. The exception value is the type normally seen when a null pointer is accessed. Since I haven't used any of my code, and since Ethereal works OK, and since I assume the pktdump_ex example has been well tested I am wondering how I can determine what the problem is.
