I don't think winpcap or windump captures the 802.11 management packets
(because the standard windows driver don't support promiscuous mode). You
might have checked the "promicuous mode" option and therefore not seeing
any packets. Uncheck that option and you should see some packets but they
will likely be treated as regular ethernet (802.3) packets instead of
wireless. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Also is there any freely available wireless driver that supports
promiscuous mode, and hence allows winpcap to see 802.11 traffic?

Dear all,
  I tried to use windump to capture packet in a wireless lan. the command
is "windump -i 2 -n -q" where the 2 is my wireless network card.but it
said 0 packet received. the fact is i am surfing the internet and it
should capture all of the packets in the LAN. so i wonder if windump can
capture packets in wireless lan or not. Thank you very much for any
response.
