Hello, I installed Ethereal 0.10.4 and WinPcap 3.1b, and Ethereal worked OK, but the first time I used IE6 it hung. Couldn't stop it with Task Manager - couldn't start or stop any more processes, including Task Manager. Had to hardware reset.
I've used IE with Proxomitron for years. When I turned off "use proxy" in IE, the problem disappeared. So I tried it with Opera (no help) and with Privoxy (no help). Now any browser with any HTTP proxy hangs Windows (XP Pro SP1). I uninstalled Ethereal and WinPcap, but the OS has not reverted to its original state. I duplicated this behavior on a second WinXP machine. Is there a registry key or some code somewhere that wasn't removed during uninstallation? And has anyone seen this sort of problem?
