Promiscuous mode is active within Ethereal, and it can see my network traffic.
I'll try modifying the example program and see what happens... hey, look at that... go figure. lol


Yeah, promisc = 0, packets all over the place.

I'm not aware of that as a standard error; the problems generally reported with promiscuous mode and Ethereal with wireless adapters on Windows involve seeing no packets when you try to capture in promiscuous mode, *not* an error explicitly saying that promiscuous mode can't be turned on.

I'm not after packets on the network, just to and from this specific system anyhow.


Then is the example program passing 0 as the "promisc" argument to "pcap_open()"? If not, try changing it to do so.
