Chuck,

   I would tend to exclude that the error message is caused by the change of 
version. Between the previous version and 
the 1,24 there are no changes in the MME managing of the sound card that can 
cause that error.
That error message is just a translation in words of a return code received by 
Windows when trying to open the sound 
card using the MME subsystem.

How does Winrad behave when you specify to use the ASIO drivers ?
Have you downloaded the latest drivers from the M-Audio Web site ?
Does the error manifest only with specific settings for the sampling rate ?
Are you using Windows XP ? V1.24 doesn't work anymore with Windows 98...
