Title: WIRELESS-LAN Digest - 20 Nov 2003 to 21 Nov 2003 (#2003-68)

At Indiana University we have all 500 access points on one campus on a single VLAN.  Likewise at the other core campus.  We have about 1400 wireless devices turned on at any given time and about 800 active VPN connections through the gateway (at peak).  The rest are presumably sitting on a desk with a wired connection but still have the wireless interface turned on.

We realize that at some point the broadcast traffic will cause us to break this into at least two VLANs, but that hasn’t happened yet.  In the meantime mobile users can use the same IP number everywhere on campus.
