Mike,

Two things about the wi-jack from Ortronics… It's an Aruba 61 inside and can provide 2 additional wired ports as well. So .a or .bg sw selectable but not both at the same time. On the back is an ortronics connector so you will have to have an ortronics receptacle. Here is a picture of its guts.

I don't think there are any student dorms with them installed, maybe someone knows.

Subject: [WIRELESS-LAN] wireless wall-jacks an option for res halls?

Hi all,

We are constructing new dormitories on our Amherst campus and are considering adding blanket wireless coverage in addition to the ethernet-port-per-pillow wired infrastructure.

I was wondering if anyone has had experience with the Otronics (Aruba back end) Wi-Jack wireless wall jacks, or if there are any other AP-in-a-jack solution.

(Please, no vendor or sales calls)

Thanks,
  Mike
