Jorge:

Cisco inherited the REAP from Airespace
(http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/102/reap_lap_wlc.pdf). It has its
limitations (I don't have my notes to refer to, but I could find them if you
needed), so Cisco has introduced the Hybrid REAP. "HREAP supports visibility
into VLAN tagging, providing enterprises with the flexibility to determine
which SSIDs will have data bridged locally and which will have data tunneled
back to a controller. HREAP is a definite improvement over REAP and will be
attractive to enterprises looking to provide small-scale wireless services
for a multitude of branch offices."

You say you do not want to go back to Aironet? Aruba's security
architecture requires all traffic to go back to a mobility controller, so
for that reason Aruba has lower-end model (the 200) that you can place at
the remote location so that traffic does not have to traverse the WAN.
Trapeze has their MXR-2 and Meru Networks their MC-500. Colubris'
architecture uses controllers only for the control place, not data. Another
option is to back to 'fat' or 'thick' APs everywhere, but I'm guessing you
want the controller-AP architecture for management reasons, but you could
always consider an AP management product like AirWave or WaveLink.

Subject: [WIRELESS-LAN] Wireless @ Remote Sites

Are there any Cisco shops out there running wireless at remote sites?
We do not want APs at remote sites congesting those links for all its
traffic that has to go back to the controller. Yes we are aware of the
Cisco's wireless LAN controller module. If there is anyone who has
implemented this out there and they could provide any information on
this, it would be gratly appreciated.

We also do not want to go back to using Aironet.

Thanks.
