Monte,

Have you considered a solution like:
linksys access-points with open source Mesh technology
(eg: openwrt etc...). Each floor could get a cat5 circuit as uplink
and you use in each room the existing AC power to power the mesh.
The access-point will serve as a wireless uplink as well as a switch
(4 ports).
It is risky, but definitely affordable (more so than a Wi-Fi arrays)

Has anyone done experiences with this?
