Hi John-
We went from 500 peak daily concurrent users to around 5,500 in a week
over opening, on our 1,800+ APs. Even with a new NAC system in play
(Impulse) and some strange stuff with the newest Mac notebooks and
iPhones, it was a pretty tame opening as far as problems go. We did find
and remove some 30+ rogues by various tricks and tools.
>From the load standpoint- the areas that we purposefully designed for
dense coverage tend to do very well- not a single valid user complaint
regarding signal strength (and only a couple of invalid complaints).
Where we are patchy in coverage, we have a master plan to get every
thing covered densely, based on what we know of our spaces and how they
are or will be used.

Subject: [WIRELESS-LAN] High Numbers of WiFi Devices

Good Morning,

We are interested in hearing about experiences with a high number of
WiFi devices hitting your campuses on the first day of classes and for
welcome back events. What was the impact on your wireless network and
how did you deal with issues steaming from this.

Are there any models or tools that you employ to predict WiFi loads and
potential growth to adjust your design to accommodate.

Thank you
