I don't think this applies to the Wii. It's a bit different from the DS. I still get a laugh every time I think about that post that a Nintendo engineer posted on it's tech forums: (The reason the Nintendo DS is compatible with WEP, and not WPA, is that we found WEP to be the most prevalent standard for securing wi-fi connections.) Nintendo has elminated the forum that little gem was contained in, but it's archived for the world to see here:
