We have run into this problem as well. Looking in the dhcp logs, the dhcp server hears the discover and makes an offer. Debug from the controller shows the offer going out, but no request from the client. We can reboot the AP and the client will start working. My next step is to run AirMagnet and find out what's going on between the AP and the client. I will reserve judgement until then.

In the end it assigns itself a self- assigned IP. We are seeing this on a lot of new MacBooks and MacBookPros running 10.5.8. If we associate the computer to an autonomous AP it works fine. If we boot it in safe mode it works fine too. Everything else it just fails.
