I have the same issue(5.2.178) and TAC recommends upgrading to 6.x but didn't
mention what was really the root cause except saying it was a bug.

Subject: [WIRELESS-LAN] Cisco Thin APs 'Boucing'

Good Morning!

We are running Cisco 4404 controllers with approximately 200 APs
spread out across campus. All of the APs advertise the same WLANs,
and are all running the same config. We were having issues where some
of our APs (30% +/-) were flapping their radios on and off repeatedly,
and Cisco TAC informed me that there was a bug in our version of code
that will cause this, and recommended we upgrade to the newest code
(5.2.193.0). I did that, and most of the problems went away, but I am
still seeing it on a few APs, and of course, one of the problem ones
is in the President's Residence. This is causing some sporadic
connectivity, and a very unhappy executive.

The errors that I'm seeing are:

August 31, 2009 7:52:51 AM CDT AP 'Presidents_House_Attic_New',
interface '802.11b/g' is down on Controller 'xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx'.
August 31, 2009 7:52:51 AM CDT AP 'Presidents_House_Attic_New',
interface '802.11b/g' is up on Controller 'xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx'
August 31, 2009 7:53:12 AM CDT AP 'Presidents_House_Attic_New',
interface '802.11b/g' is down on Controller 'xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx'.
August 31, 2009 7:53:12 AM CDT AP 'Presidents_House_Attic_New',
interface '802.11b/g' is up on Controller 'xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx'.

There will be clusters like this from 2-20 events, then there may be a
break for a while, but never more than 15-20 minutes, and then it
starts all over again. This happens day and night. Another AP in the
same residence does not have the problem, and running a wireless scan
for conflicting WLANs does not show anything.

I'm at a loss...has anyone else seen this?

Thanks!
