I know that for us, at least in the dorms, that cell phones have pretty much 
killed off all land lines- hence erasing the concern entirely. 

Other than interference, there are security concerns with cordless phones. This 
is a bit dated (predates DECT 1.9 and was aimed at home users), but still 
accurate and hits on one case of cordless phone insecurity on our campus:

DECT6 (1.9 GHz) is the only way to go!  They also work quite well.


Note there are a LOT of other things in the WiFi bands that can cause 
similar problems. 
(leaky microwave ovens, some computers, video games, etc.)
