More info about the "Fast SSID" feature.. This is TAC's answer about why it is
disabled by default: "It is disabled by default as a protection mechanism
against DoS attacks from malicious clients."

Thanks Jimmy! "Fast SSID change" was disabled (default) on my controllers. I
enabled it and did a few tests. That seems to have fixed the issue!

Hi. Do you have "Fast SSID change" enabled on your controllers? This setting
is under Controller--> General. If it is not enabled, enable it and see if you
performance improves. I was told by our SE on 7.0.98.0 code that this is to
help with that issue. My understanding to it is the controller will cache the
user for a small period of time to see if they come back on that SSID. Their
MAC address is in limbo for this time and cant connect to any other SSIDs on
that controller. When "Fast SSID change" is enabled this tells that controller
not to stop that MAC address from connecting on any SSID. I hope this helps,

Subject: [WIRELESS-LAN] Wi-Fi connection issue when switching SSIDs

Hi everyone, we have Cisco WiSMs 7.0.116.0 and we see a connection issue in our
environment. When users disconnect from one SSID and connect to another SSID,
most of times they need to try 2-3 times then got connected. It seems to
consistent for IPhone users, but also happens some times for Windows especially
when switching from open SSID to 802.1x SSID. This only happens when switching
SSIDs. Has anyone else seen this issue?

Thanks.
