We haven't seen to may of the basic kindle or the nook for that matter, but
after the winter break the kindle fire is everywhere on campus and it is able
to use the WPA2 Enterprise network. I'd be very surprised if Amazon went back
and retooled the kindle's software so it is capable of using WPA2 Enterprise,
when now you can just upgrade to the kindle fire...

Subject: [WIRELESS-LAN] Amazon Kindle

Hi,

Just had our first request for assistance with a Kindle, not an overly popular
product here yet but apparently gaining more interest. Of course it just
doesn't work with our wireless which I'm sure is quite common and we are not
planning to run a PSK network for devices like this. Web auth is also something
we have been avoiding to run, mainly around being a less user friendly service
and some concerns around security that we have not had time/prioritised to
investigate.

I was wandering if some of you have chosen to provide a wireless network for
such devices and how you go about it?

I've included the response I got from Amazon about it, first level support
seemed helpful but it's not really up to them

Regards

Jason

Subject: Your Amazon.com Kindle Inquiry

Hello,

Thanks for writing to us with your feedback regarding the Enterprise wireless
networking.

I understand that currently, the Kindle does not support Enterprise wireless
networking and you have a few kindle users in your University who would like to
connect their kindles to your wireless network, Enterprise wireless networking.

To solve this issue by the earliest, I have forwarded your comments, expressing
the need to have the Enterprise wireless networking support on the Kindle
devices, to our kindle department, so that they can take notice of it, take
them into consideration and most probably provide this feature as an update in
the near future.

Your feedback will help us to improve the selection and service we provide and
we're glad you took time to write to us.

Thanks for your interest in Kindle.

Thank you for your recent inquiry. Did I solve your problem?

Comments:Hi,

I'm from the Technology Services department of the University of Adelaide. We
have a few users with Kindle devices that would like to connect them to our
wireless network however our wireless network is Enterprise only and we do not
support PSK. The Kindle does not support Enterprise.

I was wandering if there is any plans to support Enterprise wireless networking
in the future and when that might be? This method of authentication is quite
common in educational institutions.

Regards

Jason
