That's true, but I managed to slap a pair up in the lab across about 2 meters. Turned the RX gain to 'low' and they linked up. For whatever reason, I couldn't get the firmware to let me turn down the transmit power (running a beta version that's supposed to resolve a few issues). Threw a couple of chairs in between just to give them a little extra attenuation. They were negotiation between 100Mbps and 500Mbps, highly variable. Still, it was solid enough that I could generally use in-band management to manage the 'far' end of the link.
I'm sure you can make the 50m link work. I'll be installing it over a 1km link tomorrow. I was quite pleased with how pain-free they were to set up. Far cry from our LMDS gear, both in ease of configuration and cost. I expect it to be significantly less work to install, too, though I'll have to confirm that on the rooftops tomorrow. - Jacob On Apr 2, 2013, at 16:05 , Luke Jenkins <[email protected]> wrote: > From page 26 of the User Guide: "Note: Minimum link distance is approximately > 100 m." > > It looks like you need to turn the TX power and RX gain down for short links. > > -Luke > > > On Tue, Apr 2, 2013 at 6:56 AM, Chuck Anderson <[email protected]> wrote: > What is the link length people have been installing?
