Reply-To: Wireless Issues in the JANET community <[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>> Hi folks, Cisco-using colleagues running a 7.5 release train on their controllers may wish to know that we have recently deferred the release due a discovered hardware incompatibility with the memory driver in that release for controller units built after April 2012 (before that date are unaffected). While the trigger point is a rare set of circumstances, the affect is dramatic as the memory becomes permanently unreachable at POST in a crash/reload loop that cannot be fixed other than through an RMA of the hardware unit. The bug ID is CSCul68057 (CF driver change for 5508/WiSM2/2504) and colleagues with a cisco.com<http://cisco.com> login can read the details in the Bug Toolkit at this link: https://tools.cisco.com/bugsearch/bug/CSCul68057 There is not going be a rebuild of 7.5, with the recommended upgrade path being to go to 7.6, which has no implications for hardware model support of either controllers or APs. Only Prime Infrastructure (where used) would need to add patch 1 to v1.4 to support 7.6. I am not aware of any UK university customer that has been affected by this myself yet, but in the interests of trying to avoid any problem before it were to manifest itself - felt it was worth reaching out proactively in this case. Apologies for the spam to the non-Cisco-using colleagues on the list but I thought this one was worth sharing to those affected so that any upgrade remediation change control window can be planned.
