I think I need to clarify my question a little. I have played with
chromecast and got it working on the same vlan. In theory the reason it
does not work across subnets is because it uses UPNP to multicast
address 239.255.255.250 to discover the device. It then reverts to
unicast for everything else. So in theory, if you have multicast
working properly it will indeed work across subnets. So my question is,
has anyone played with getting it to work across subnets by supporting
multicast for that group?
