Let me start off by thanking everyone who attended the WIRELESS-LAN CG meeting
last week at the Annual Conference. We were lucky in getting a prime time
slot! We had a good crowd with many of the lists' discussion points being
tossed around. I'm still surprised how many people in Higher Ed don't know
about these listserv/CG's! We need to do a better job getting the information
out to the member institutions.

50 minutes isn't a lot of time, but during the session we touched on:

* 802.11ac (roughly 1/3 of the attendees are using or have started the
migration)

* A nice discussion on whether or not residence halls should be wired
or only wireless

* 2.4GHz vs 5GHz (are people moving to just 5?)

* A quick, but appropriate!, plug for EDUROAM

*         Network Access Control

o Gaming Networks (do you support gaming on your wireless network?)

o Guest networks (open-connection, charge for use, sponsored, combination).

..and then we ran out of time.

There has been some discussion on our peer CG lists about virtual meet-ups. I
think that would be very helpful and would be happy to facilitate/moderate a
meet-up. I wanted to get opinions on how this should happen. Personally, I
think we should have subject-specific meet-ups since we'll probably still have
limited time to work with (e.g just talking about Guest Network strategies).
Thoughts?

Thank you again. If you didn't make it to Orlando, consider attending your
regional Connect. For those of you in the Northeast, I'll hopefully see you at
the NERCOMP Regional Meeting in Providence in the Spring!

Thank you again,
Brian
