*POSITION TITLE: *NETWORK ADMINISTRATOR *CLASSIFCATION: *FULL TIME - STAFF - SALARIED *REPORTS TO: *CHIEF TECHNOLOGY OFFICER *DEPT: *INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY *POSITION SUMMARY* The network administrator is responsible for designing and maintaining the campus network infrastructure and implementing data security measures. This includes wired, wireless, VLAN’s, firewalls and network access control. *ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES* - Establishes network specifications by conferring with users and systems engineer; analyzing workflow, access, information, and security requirements; designing router administration, including interface configuration and routing protocols. - Establishes network by evaluating network performance issues including availability, utilization, throughput, and latency; planning and executing the selection, installation, configuration, and testing of equipment; defining network policies and procedures; establishing connections and firewalls. - Maintains network performance by performing network monitoring and analysis, and performance tuning; troubleshooting network problems. - Secures network by developing network access, monitoring, control, and evaluation; maintaining documentation. - Develop network and data security awareness training sessions for staff and students - Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment. - Exhibit a personality that demonstrates interpersonal skills to relate well with students, staff, administration, parents and the community. - Order networking supplies and equipment. - Some moving and lifting of equipment; 30 to 40 pounds. - Set up and support special events. *ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS* · Proficient in Cisco networking fundamentals. · In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP, VLAN’s, VOIP, SSL certificates, DNS and DHCP · Experience with configuring Network Access Control systems · Active Directory knowledge · Knowledge of FERPA and HIPPA regulations · Knowledge of Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) appliances · Analytical and problem-solving abilities. · Hardware and software troubleshooting experience. *PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS* - Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Business or Computer Science - Cisco Certification - Network + Certification - Security +, CISSP or other security certification - Experience in higher education processes and procedures - Experience with Fortinet, HP Core Switch (H3C) Cisco Phones, Cisco Wireless Radius, Linux, and Informacast *Jerry Rains* Chief Technology Officer | Information Technology *O* (863) 667-5028 *E* [email protected] 1000 Longfellow Blvd. Lakeland, Florida 33801-6034 <http://www.seu.edu/> <https://www.facebook.com/seuniversity> <https://twitter.com/seuniversity> <http://instagram.com/seuniversity> <https://www.youtube.com/user/watchSEU> <http://www.pinterest.com/SEUniversity/> ********** Participation and subscription information for this EDUCAUSE Constituent Group discussion list can be found at http://www.educause.edu/groups/.
