Julian, We use the ClearPass APIs for onboarding devices too.
If we support Aruba AirGroup on a device (Apple TV, for instance), we use the API to register it as a Personal AirGroup device. This allows AirPlay, for instance, to work for most users. We customize the AirGroup Device permissions manually for other sharing cases.
