Amplified antennas usually have an external amplifier module connected
inline with the RF cable leading from the wireless LAN card to the antenna
itself. They usually are powered by an external source such as an AC power
supply or solar+battery combo for remote installations.

Gents,

What are the differences of antenna's that are amplified and unamplified.
Does that really suck power on laptops? How does that work??? Separate power
source? What amplifies the antenna?
