Have you tried disabling the 10/100 onboard NIC? I'm not sure if Win2k gives
the error "Network Cable Disconnected" for wireless LAN adaptors. It sounds
to me like the OS is trying to connect via the onboard NIC instead of the
wireless LAN. It is normal for an "unused" LAN connection to show "Network
cable disconnected" under windows.

Subject: [BAWUG] w2k w/ Orinoco 'network cable disconnected'

The reception is "Excellent" and the device is "working properly" but
I can't get a network connection and w2k gives the error message
"network cable disconnected".

The cumputer is Dell 4400 with onboard 10/100 3Com nic.
The wireless card is Orinoco Gold in an Orinoco pci adapter.
The current driver was downloaded from Orinoco and installed.
The card firmware was flashed with the current version.
The AP is Orinoco 500 - Five other systems in the same room connect
normally.

The DHCP media sensing registry key was set to ignore.
Then TCP/IP was hardcoded with the IP address.

All to no avail.
Has anyone seen this &/or know how to fix it?

Thanks.
