I removed the plastic cover on a Lucent Gold card of mine a while back and I
believe bypassing the internal antenna is as easy as removing the 2 coupling
capacitors that connect the antennas. This would in effect bypass the the
antennas but there might still be some bleed as the traces are very close
together. This would also void any stamp of approval by the FCC.

To remove the cover pry the plastic starting on the underside edge just
beneath the antenna connector. GENTLY pry up untill the plastic cover will
slide off away from the rest of the card. I dont remember if the caps are
on top or underneath. If they aren't accessible by removing the plastic
cover you can remove the metal casing by pulling the case apart at the
seam. Once this is done the circuit board is completely removed from the
case.

This is and EXTREMELY delicate procedure and there is a chance that you will
damage or destroy your card. If you are familiar with working with fine
electronics and small mechanical things then this should be relatively easy.
