I'm having the same problems as the guys who posted on
alt.internet.wireless. I'm using a Dell TrueMobile 1150 on Windows 2000
talking to a Linksys BEFW11S4. The TrueMobile has worked for me, on the same
computer, before so I know it's not a compatability problem with the card
and the access point. However, recently, every time I try to enable the
card, I get a "network cable unplugged" error message. I know it's not the
ESSID since I can connect using that id from another computer. I've
installed the latest driver and firmware from Dell and called their tech
support but no help. Does anyone on this list have this problem? Are there
logs that I can turn on to debug the problem? Does someone know the
manufacturer/model number (I think it's a lucent card) so I can check their
site for the latest scoop.

thanks
arthur

I'm getting this "Cable Disconnected" rubbish too. I've just installed
Win2000 in place of the WinXP crap that was on my new Inspiron 8100. The
card is the Dell TrueMobile 1150 Mini-PCI and the AP is the D-Link
DWL-1000AP.

I'm using the latest firmware from D-Link and the latest drivers from Dell,
and the Client Manager reports an "Excellent" connection at 100% signal
strength, but all ipconfig says is "Cable Disconnected" so I can't configure
an IP.

I also tried the "DisableDHCPMediaSense" trick, which just caused the whole
machine to lock up after reboot.

"Cable Disconnected"? Wireless card? Hmmm.
