Hi Guys, I recently upgraded to a DSL service and convinced my neighbor that he would benefit greatly with sharing this service and that it could help his 12 year old son considerably. An Alcatel Speed Touch pro, with a Linksys WAP 11 (ver. 2.2 with Firmware ver. 1.009) and a Netgear FA 311 Fast Ethernet Adapter are on my side with my neighbor using a Linksys WUSB 11 ver.2.5. Line of sight is obstructed by a solid concrete wall where my PC is located. On his side there is a 5 ft thicket hedge and a corner with two solid concrete walls. The distance between our two PCs 80 ft. I get a poor signal strength reading both in the room with his PC and on his facing facing veranda. Both houses are single storey. We are considering a 6 dbi external antenna on my house. But I have a disused 12 ft satellite dish and a 12 ft TV antenna on my roof. Is there a way to use the Satellite dish to solve our problem? There will still be the corner of his house as an obstruction to his pc. I am a neophyte in the PC world and would greatly appreciate the help of the BAWAG. |
