I have achieved 200 yards in a real practical test walking a Laptop away and
measuring the distance.

With a Yagi I have used the same Wap Laptop combo and gone a measured
distance of 1400 meters with a 11 mbps rate and 50% or better signal
strength.

Subject: [BAWUG] A question about range

Anyone know the true outdoor range of a regular old WAP 11 or its
equivalent? Sans yagi. I'm not looking for outrageous use cases. Just
normal NIC to AP distance tests. I'm having trouble finding good
anecdotal evidence online and their datasheet leaves me skeptical.

ftp://ftp.linksys.com/datasheet/wapIIds.pdf
500 Meters seems a little short to me.

TIA,
K
