This technology puts an interesting twist in the mobile wireless broadband
market. It is IP-based, packet-switched, with an average speed of 1.5Mb per
user and spectrum agnostic. Flarion claims it costs 1/10th the cost of 3G.
Flarion has made sure to get on many links in the value chain by making the
routers, terminals and chipsets. It will also license the chipset.

How does this impact 802.11 market? Does this solve the mobile IP-address
hand off problem?

BEDMINSTER, N.J. -- Flarion Technologies, the architect of the flash-OFDM
mobile broadband system for licensed mobile operators, and SK Telecom (NYSE:
SKM - message board), Korea's leading wireless telecommunications services
provider, today announced that SK Telecom is the first advanced mobile
operator to deploy a flash-OFDM mobile broadband trial network in Korea. The
trial will test the Flarion system's robustness, performance and transparent
delivery of enterprise and lifestyle applications over an end-to-end IP
network infrastructure. The field trial will start in October 2002.

"SK Telecom continues to lead the way with testing and deployment of new and
advanced technologies in Korea," said Myung Sung Lee, chief technology
officer, SK Telecom. "We are very interested in Flarion's mobile broadband
technology for wireless access services and look forward to testing the
system in metropolitan areas of Korea."

With Flarion's flash-OFDM technology, users experience the comparable
performance, security and bandwidth allocation as they would in an office on
a shared Local Area Network (LAN) environment, without making any
modifications to user settings, applications, protocols, content or devices.

SK Telecom will deploy Flarion RadioRouterTM base stations and utilize
existing towers and backhaul infrastructure. In addition, users will have
Flarion's PC 1000(tm) Wireless PC Cards for their laptops and Personal
Digital Assistants (PDAs), so that they can experience broadband Internet
access, email, and all other IP applications, with full cellular mobility.
