[BAWUG] Extending wireless signal within a home

Sorry if this has been discussed ad nauseum already, but I don't find an easy way to search all the group archives.

I have a Linksys WAP and a Linksys pcmcia card for my notebook and I lose signal strength rapidly from one end of the house to the other.

I'm wondering if there is a low cost solution to boost, extend, or bridge the signal strength through a home.
