Hey guys need some help on hardware recommendations.
A buddy of mine has a very large house and knows very little in regards of networking so I was going to help him out in setting up a wireless lan and he wants all his machines completely wireless.
He has 2 desktops in one room that the cable modem will be in, fairly large office like room and each desktop is at separate ends, also the cable modem is not installed yet.
The third machine is a Laptop witch will need access throughout the house and even back yard ect, im waiting for him to get back to me on the Acers he has and how much square feet he has that will require coverage, but again this is a large house he has a single lane bowling ally in his basement…
As for the laptop I am told the ReliaWave Wireless card is the best for the laptop unsure of the desktops and what gateway to pick up and antennas also want to have things as cosmetically appealing as possible or not visible at all this is important.
There is also a chance he might relocate one of the office machines to another location in the house and add additional machines in the house so expansion is important.
I want to go all out on this every thing top of the line.
There’s also speculation over 802.11a or 802.11b speed is a issue but what is also important is range so I don’t know…
