For Marine environment make sure you use a Stainless or non-ferrous material for the Reflector. Otherwise you will have a little pile of brown powder where the antenna was in about 6 months

Use a patch. If your only 125ft, you won't need much. Make sure the Horizontal bandwidth is large, as I assume that being on a boat it'll move around a bunch. Superpass has decent antenna's, so does Pacwireless, there are a bunch of different vendors out there. Do a search on google to find ones you can buy. Or, you can make your own pretty cheap, but make sure you make it to stand up to weather :). You should be able to pick up a good patch antenna for under $30. Careful of going up in dBi though. The beam width gets narrower. -Joe -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:wireless-admin@;lists.bawug.org]On Behalf Of berkeleymassage Sent: Monday, October 28, 2002 5:06 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [BAWUG] Linksys WET11 receive signal increase A friend of mine and I are just out of range of an access point. We both have WET11's. We are actually about 125 ft. apart from each other, but in a marina setting so we can't just run a cat5 cable from his router to my location. He attached a "hyperlink omnidirectional 8 dbi" antenna to his WET11 and now receives the access point signal fine. I tried his antenna on my boat and I received the access point signal fine as well. MY QUESTIONS: 1- I was wondering if there is a way to increase the WET11 receive signal sensitivity, without attaching a bigger/more dbi antenna? 2- Does anyone have a used 8-10 dbi antenna for sale or know of a local SF Bay area place that would carry 2.4 ghz antenna? Preferrably, the east bay near Berkeley. 3- If I have to buy an antenna, is hyperlink about the best place and most reasonable? Thanks... __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Y!
