I have a very similar setup. The Snow Apple Airport AP contains a router
and a firewall. It hooks directly to my DSL Modem and provides DHCP service
to both the wireless network and a Cat 5 wired hub network. The AP goes
between the DSL modem and the hub. A 4 port 10/100 Ethernet hub isn't
expensive and then you can use a wired network for some of your HW to avoid
purchasing 802.11b cards for everything. For example, I have 2 wired
Ethernet printers on the network.

The Linksys WUSB11 Wireless USB Network Adapter for $60 at outpost.com is
one way to wirelessly connect a PC using only a USB port, and works well for
my neighbor....

My system works great, however, I purchased a $72 Orinioco Range Extender
antenna to extend the AP's reach (suitably modified the antenna connector as
per Cliff). The 30 mW Airport cards in the Macs work fine. The 200 mW Prism
II chip-based cards for both Macs and PCs from Matt Peterson's
Surfandsip.com work even better, only $90 for the one with a built-in
antenna!

The Linksys BEFW11S4 Wireless Access Point+Router w/4-Port Switch is an
alternative to the Apple AP and a small hub. It looks good on paper at $90,
but I haven't seen any reports on it.
